Working From Home – How To Get Sh*t Done

As you know we have been hit with a global crisis, you wouldn’t say from all the meme’s going around on social media, sadly I shamefully have shared some.

Who would have ever thought that I would be sitting here updating my blog during the Corona crisis ( COVID-19 ). Our company has officially grounded all office staff from today, we are getting daily updates via different forms of communication. The uncertainty worries me but I guess we need to take one day at a time. Business as usual right?

I am not going to sit here and explain what the virus is all about but I would like to ask each of you to be kind to people around you, including yourself. Please do not be selfish and don’t panic, take this time to self reflect.

I am going to share a few tips with you on how to handle working from home effectively. I have embraced it, I know it is day one but we need to get used to it for now.

Desk Details

Office Hours – Its Important to implement office Hours, a lunch break, take time aside to cuddle your dog, my little one Rocco, is currently lying next to my office desk.
Lists – First thing this morning, I wrote down all the things I wanted to achieve today. Try and tick off larger more pressing items first
Get dressed – As tempting as it is to stay in your cozy pajamas, get up, get dressed and put on some make-up, it makes you feel great and gets your mood going!
Lunch – Take a lunch break, cook something healthy, I made myself a healthy chicken salad and keep hydrated. I have one coffee a day, so the rest of the day I sip on water.
Work Space – do not answer emails from bed, get up and sit in your office or at a desk.
Take Breaks – Be disciplined enough to go outside and take in the fresh air, but get back to your work.
Think out the box – You have tools at your disposal, use them – Webex/ Video calls/ WhatsApp etc.

If you don’t need to “work from home” but need things to do here are a few tips to keep you busy:

Re-organise your closets
Workout at home
Watch a new Netflix show
Clean the fridge or garage etc
Take a beauty day where you pamper yourself (take a bath with a Lush bath bomb, put a mask on etc)
Do a DIY project
Read a book
Clean out your laptop photos/phone folders
Start a vision board for your 2020 goal
